The company was founded on February 24, 2004 in Guangzhou . Another source only mentions February 2004. The Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group is involved with 30% and Toyota with 70%. Engine production began in October 2005. In September 2011 it was announced that the proportions were unchanged. About 1500 people were employed at the time.
