GANOVEX

GANOVEX (abbreviation for German Antarctic North Victoria Land Expedition ) refers to a series of Antarctic expeditions by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources . The first expedition (GANOVEX I) was carried out in 1979. The eleventh expedition, GANOVEX XI, took place from mid-December 2015 to mid-February 2016. The bases of the expeditions include the Gondwana station in Terra Nova Bay and the Lillie-Marleen refuge on the Lillie glacier. The aim of the expeditions is, among other things, to research the breakup of the ancient continent Gondwana and the development of the Antarctic continent .
