Ancient Philosophy Society
The Society for Ancient Philosophy (GANPH) e. V. is a registered association that promotes the philosophical , philological and ancient historical preoccupation with the philosophy of antiquity in the entire German-speaking area on an interdisciplinary basis .
The association was founded in 2001 in Munich and is a professional association member of the German Society for Philosophy . The current chairman of GANPH is Sabine Föllinger . GANPH is based in Würzburg. In the area of research , sub-areas of ancient philosophy are coordinated and projects are planned. In addition, the GANPH acts as an organ of ancient philosophy and the participating subjects, which represents their interests in society .
According to its statutes, the goals of GANPH are :
- research into ancient philosophy in German-speaking countries,
- the cooperation in the field of ancient philosophy between researchers in the subjects of philosophy , classical philology and other disciplines,
- the support of university and school teaching in the field of ancient philosophy.
