Sabine Föllinger

Sabine Föllinger (born September 25, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

After attending school in Karlsruhe, Föllinger completed a voluntary social year in Berlin from 1983 to 1984 and then studied Latin and theology at the universities of Freiburg , Munich and Rome . In the winter semester of 1988/1989 she switched from theology to Greek studies . After the state examination in the summer semester of 1991, Föllinger completed a doctorate in Latin, Greek and theology and worked as a research assistant at the Department of Classical Philology in Freiburg. In 1994 she started her dissertation on the topic of difference and equality: The gender relationship as seen by Greek philosophers of the 4th to 1st centuries BC. . Chr doctorate and went as a research assistant to Mainz . Here she submitted her habilitation thesis entitled Mythos to Aeschylus in June 1999 and completed her habilitation in January 2000. From the summer semester of 2000 onwards, she was employed as a university lecturer (C2) in Mainz until she was offered a professorship for Greek studies in October 2003 at the University of Bamberg followed. In the 2011/2012 winter semester, Föllinger switched to the Chair of Greek Studies at the Philipps University of Marburg as the successor to Arbogast Schmitt .

Föllinger deals with early Greek literature from a literary point of view, especially with epic poetry, poetry and tragedy. In addition, she examines ancient philosophy and natural science and their reception.
