GCompris ( French j'ai compris, German I understood ) is free learning software for elementary schools . The target group are children aged 2 to 10 years.
The GCompris suite is available in multiple languages and for platforms and was published under the GNU GPLv3 license . The system was originally developed for GNU / Linux . The Windows version only provides a limited number of the extensive functions. However, this restriction can be lifted by activating it for a fee.
GCompris offers over 100 so-called activities in the following areas:
- Keyboard, mouse, mouse movements
- Counting, basic arithmetic , the time
- Arrange countries on a map, the water cycle, the submarine
- Puzzle games, chess, memory
- Reading practice.
