The Skylanders SK-105 is a project for a new turboprop - light aircraft , developed by Sky Aircraft, a subsidiary of GECI Aviation. The Skylander SK-105 was originally scheduled to go into production in 2014, but no prototype had yet been completed by July 2012 . With the announcement of the dissolution of the company on April 16, 2013, the project was stopped for the time being. In September 2018 it became known that the Chinese Tianjiao General Aviation Company had bought the rights to the project for around 1.9 million euros .

Design and development

The project was announced on October 17, 2001 at the Seoul Air Show. The development was overseen by Desmond Norman, who helped develop the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander . The first metal cut should be made in January 2004 and the first two prototypes should fly in May 2005. Due to a lack of funding, this was postponed indefinitely.

Following the signing of a letter of intent in December 2007 by the Turkish ACT Airlines Group to purchase 15 aircraft for delivery between 2011 and 2021; the program was officially launched in April 2008. At the same time, an agreement for the joint sale of Skylanders was signed in Bulgaria, Hungary, Macedonia, Turkey and other countries in the Middle East. The development was slowed down in 2008 by the relocation of production from Portugal to France, but the first flight should still take place in 2011. The initial $ 120 million funding for the program was secured by three companies, the first of which was Korean Aerospace Industries committed on October 17, 2001 with $ 30 million to secure the production of the wings .

In October 2009 a new design was presented and the production site relocated to the base aérienne de Chambley-Bussières in Lorraine . The first flight was postponed every year and should finally take place in 2014.

On October 4th 2012, GECI Aviation had to file for bankruptcy due to a lack of funding.
