GEOFOX is the name of a passenger information system , a registered trademark of HBT Hamburger Beratung Team GmbH. The software was developed in 1990 under the name "FIS". The Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV) is a licensee and has been using GEOFOX since 1993. GEOFOX has been provided as an online service since January 1998 . The system is integrated into the HVV website and is also used as a backend for various other services.

variants

The most important variant is the information on the HVV website.

GEOFOX also serves as a back-end for directory inquiries on 040/19449 .

Up until 2006, a CD-ROM version for the home PC or Mac was published regularly when the timetable changed .

Until 2014, you could receive brief information via SMS . To do this, the request data had to be entered in a specific syntax. With the spread of the mobile Internet, this service lost its importance and was discontinued.

The web version has been based on responsive web design since 2018 and, as a single-page web application, is also optimized for mobile devices.

Routing is also available for third-party applications via API .

Features

The central feature of GEOFOX is the connection search . This means an individual timetable for a certain route at a certain time under certain search conditions. Real-time delay data are taken into account, there are various search options for individual preferences, the route to the stop is determined using route routing and it is also possible to query barrier-free routes.

Further features are an interactive map, stop notices, route timetables, departure lists, stop information and much more. The system knows the operating status of all elevators in the HVV area. The current positions and movements of all buses and trains can be visualized on the map.
