Consistent electronic timetable information

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The continuous electronic timetable information ( DELFI ) provides Germany-wide information on connections in public transport . Public transport is understood to mean all local and long-distance passenger transport using means of transport such as buses , ships , trams , underground and suburban trains , regional and long-distance trains .

Emergence

DELFI was initiated in 1997 and completed by 1999 with funding from the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing .
DELFI is the result of cooperation between sixteen federal states , Deutsche Bahn AG and five system houses.

Use

DELFI saves passengers having to search for timetable information from different providers and systems and provides consistent information with just a single query. The respective local systems are accessed so that they are always up-to-date. Using public transport and switching from cars to buses and trains should be made easier and more attractive.

technology

Different information systems ( EFA , EVA, HAFAS , GEOFOX ) from different manufacturers (HaCon, HBT, MENTZ, IVU Berlin, DB Systel ) work together via an XML interface to combine the local traffic information of all federal states with the long-distance traffic information of DB AG in the background to link integrated overall connection information.

The advantage of the system is that the latest timetable information can be obtained by networking decentralized systems. The disadvantage, however, is that depending on the complexity of the request, longer response times can occur.
