The GHE 21 and 22 were two five-axle narrow-gauge steam locomotives for meter gauge of the Gernrode-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (GHE).

history

The two five-way coupled superheated steam locomotives with a Luttermöller axle drive on the first and fifth axle were manufactured by Orenstein & Koppel in 1928 under the serial no. 11746 and 11747 built for the Selketalbahn .

The two locomotives, which proved their worth in use on the Selketalbahn, were brought to the USSR in 1946, as was almost the entire remaining vehicle fleet of the GHE as reparations .

construction

The driving axle was the third axle, while the second and fourth axles were driven by coupling rods and in turn drove the end axles. In contrast to similar locomotives of the same design, the internal frame was not designed as a water tank, instead the water tanks on the right and left of the boiler extended to the smoke chamber. The coals were stored at the rear of the cab. The locomotives had a suction air brake, whereby only the three coupled axles were braked. The steam dome and two sandboxes lay on the kettle.
