Ronnie Gene Flippo (born August 15, 1937 in Florence , Alabama ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Ronnie Flippo attended public schools and graduated from Coffee High School in Florence in 1955 . He then graduated from Florence State University (later University of North Alabama ) in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree . He then made a Master of Arts at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1966 . Flippo was CPA and Partner at Flippo & Robbins in Florence between 1972 and 1976 . He was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1971 to 1975 and then to the Alabama Senate from 1975 to 1977 . Flippo took part in 1984 as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention . He was elected to the 95th US Congress and re - elected to the six subsequent US Congresses . Flippo served in the US House of Representatives from January 3, 1977 to January 3, 1991. He decided against running for the 102nd Congress in 1990 , but made an unsuccessful attempt for a nomination for the office of governor of Alabama.
