Jesse F. Stallings

Jesse Francis Stallings (born April 4, 1856 near Manningham , Butler County , Alabama , † March 18, 1928 in Birmingham , Jefferson County , Alabama) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Jesse Francis Stallings completed his preparatory studies, then graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1877 . There he studied law , was in 1880 admitted to the bar and then began in Greenville (Alabama) to practice. He was then elected Solicitor for the Second Judicial District in November 1886 , a position he held until his resignation in September 1892. During this time he took part in 1888 as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention . Then he was elected to the 53rd US Congress and re - elected to the three subsequent US Congresses . Stallings decided against running for the 57th US Congress . He served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1893 to March 3, 1901. He then went back to his practice as a lawyer in Birmingham. He was also President of Lincoln Reserve Life Insurance Co. from 1912 to 1928. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery .
