Milford Wriarson Howard (born December 18, 1862 in Rome , Floyd County , Georgia , † December 28, 1937 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American politician ( Populist Party ).

Career

Milford Howard attended community schools. He studied law in Cedartown (Georgia) and then moved in 1880 to Fort Payne ( Alabama ). He was admitted to the bar in 1881 and then began practicing at Fort Payne. Howard was elected to the 54th US Congress and re - elected to the subsequent 55th US Congress . In 1898 he decided against running for the 56th US Congress . Howard served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1895 to March 3, 1899. After his tenure was over, he returned to his practice as a lawyer. He moved to Montrose, California in 1918 , where he worked as a writer. Howard returned to Fort Payne in 1923. There he founded the master schools for underprivileged children. He also continued to pursue literary work and engaged in educational work.

Howard died in Los Angeles on December 28, 1937. His body was transferred to Alabama, where he was buried in His Shrine Chapel , above Lookout Mountain , near Mentone .
