Charles Winston Thompson
Charles Winston Thompson (born December 30, 1860 near Tuskegee , Macon County , Alabama , † March 20, 1904 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ).
Career
Charles Winston Thompson attended Tuskegee Community School and Park High School. He graduated in 1878 at the Bryant and Stratton Business College in Louisville ( Kentucky ). Afterwards he went into trading activities. He was president of the Bank of Tuskegee . He also served as the County Superintendent of Education for Macon County between 1886 and 1888 . Thompson was named Lieutenant Colonel on the staff of Governor Joseph F. Johnston in 1896, a position he held until the end of his term in office. Then in 1898 he was a member of the Alabama Senate . Thompson was elected to the 57th US Congress and re - elected to the subsequent 58th US Congress . He served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1901 until his death in 1904. His body was transferred to Tuskegee, where he was buried in the city cemetery.
