Philip Phillips (born December 13, 1807 in Charleston , South Carolina , † January 14, 1884 in Washington, DC ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Philip Phillips pursued classical subjects. He studied law , was admitted to the bar, and then began practicing on December 14, 1828 in Charleston. Phillips took part as a delegate to the state constituent assembly in 1832 . He served in the Alabama House of Representatives in 1833 and 1834 . Then he moved to Mobile , where he went back to his practice as a lawyer. He was also a member of the Alabama House of Representatives again in 1844 and 1851. Phillips attended the Democratic National Convention in 1852 as a delegate . He was elected to the 33rd US Congress , where he served from March 4, 1853 to March 3, 1855. Phillips refused to run again for the US Congress in 1854 . He then went to work as a lawyer in Washington, DC, where he died in 1884. He was on the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Savannah ( Georgia buried).
