William Benjamin Craig

William Benjamin Craig (born November 2, 1877 in Selma , Dallas County , Alabama , † November 27, 1925 there ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

William Benjamin Craig attended public school and high school in Selma. He graduated from the Law Department of the Cumberland University in Lebanon ( Tennessee ). He was admitted to the bar in 1898 and then began to practice in Selma. He then worked between 1893 and 1897 as a mechanic trainer in shops on the Southern Railway in Selma. He served first as a private , then as a sergeant, and finally as a captain in the Alabama National Guard . Craig was a member of the Alabama Senate between 1903 and 1907 . He was elected to the 60th US Congress and re - elected to the subsequent 61st US Congress . Craig decided against running for the 62nd US Congress in 1910 . He served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1907 to March 3, 1911. Then he went back to his work as a lawyer in Selma. He died there in 1925 and was buried in Live Oak Cemetery .
