James Adams Stallworth

James Adams Stallworth (born April 7, 1822 in Evergreen , Conecuh County , Alabama , † August 31, 1861 near Evergreen, Conecuh County, Alabama) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

James Adams Stallworth attended Old Field Piney Woods Schools . Then he went into farming . He studied law , was admitted to the bar in 1848, and then began practicing in Evergreen. Stallworth also pursued a political career. He was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1845 to 1848 . He then served as a solicitor in the Alabama Second Judicial District in 1850 and 1855 . Stallworth ran unsuccessfully for the 34th US Congress in 1854 . He was elected to the 35th US Congress and re - elected to the subsequent 36th US Congress . Stallworth served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1857 until his resignation on January 21, 1861. He died that same year and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery .
