Oliver C. Wiley

Oliver Cicero Wiley (born January 30, 1851 in Troy , Pike County , Alabama , † October 18, 1917 ibid) was an American businessman and politician ( Democratic Party ). He was the brother of US MP Ariosto Appling Wiley .

Career

Oliver Cicero Wiley attended community school. He later served on Troy, Alabama City Council for five years. He chaired the Democratic Executive Committee of Pike County between 1884 and 1886 . Then in 1888 he was a member of the Democratic State Executive Committee . Wiley was President of the Alabama Midland Railway from 1887 to 1892 when it was built. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of State Normal College , Director of Farmers & Merchants' National Bank, and Vice President and General Manager of Standard Chemical & Oil Co. in Troy. Wiley was elected to the 60th US Congress to fill the vacancy created by his brother's death. He served in the US House of Representatives from November 3, 1908 to March 3, 1909. Wiley died in Troy in 1917 and was buried there in Oakwood Cemetery .
