Walter Flowers

Walter Flowers (born April 12, 1933 in Greenville , Alabama , † April 12, 1984 in McLean , Virginia ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Walter Flowers attended public schools in Tuscaloosa . He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in 1955 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1957 . He then served from 1957 to 1958 a member of the Rotary Foundation Fellow at the University of London , where he received his doctorate ( graduate student ) in international law ( international law made). He was also active in 1955 as a reserve officer in military intelligence ( Military Intelligence ). Flowers served as a lieutenant in the US Army between 1958 and 1959 . He was admitted to the bar in 1957 and then began practicing in Alabama.

Flowers also had a political career. He was elected to the 91st US Congress and re - elected to the four subsequent US Congresses . Flowers decided against running for the 96th Congress in 1978 and ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US Senate . He was a member of the US House of Representatives from January 3, 1969 to January 3, 1979. He then worked as a businessman and lived in McLean, Virginia, where he died in 1984. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
