Thomas William Sadler

Thomas William Sadler (born April 17, 1831 near Russellville , Franklin County , Alabama , † October 29, 1896 in Prattville , Autauga County , Alabama) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Thomas William Sadler moved with his parents to Jefferson County, Alabama , in 1833 . He then moved to Autauga County in 1855, where he was in business. After the outbreak of the American Civil War , he volunteered in the Confederate Army and served in the division under the command of General Joseph Wheeler . After the war he pursued agricultural activities. He also studied law , was admitted to the bar in 1867, and then began practicing in Prattville. He later served as the County Superintendent of Education between 1875 and 1884 . Sadler was elected to the 49th US Congress . During his re-election attempt in the 50th US Congress , he suffered a defeat. He served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1885 to March 3, 1887. After the end of his tenure, he resumed his practice as a lawyer.

Sadler died in Prattville, Alabama in 1896 and was buried there in Oak Hill Cemetery .
