Tom Bevill

Tom Bevill (born March 27, 1921 in Townley , Walker County , Alabama , † March 28, 2005 in Jasper , Walker County, Alabama) was an American soldier, lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Tom Bevill graduated from Walker County High School in 1939 , from the University of Alabama School of Commerce and Business Administration in 1943, and most recently from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1948. He also served in the US Army during World War II . During this time he fought in the European theater of war. After the war he ran his own law firm.

Bevill also had a political career. He was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1958 to 1966 . Then he was elected to the 90th US Congress and re - elected to the fourteen subsequent US Congresses . In 1996 he decided against running for the 105th US Congress . Bevill served in the US House of Representatives from January 3, 1967 to January 3, 1997.
