John Bragg

John Bragg (born January 14, 1806 near Warrenton , Warren County , North Carolina , † August 10, 1878 in Mobile , Mobile County , Alabama ) was an American lawyer, judge and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

John Bragg attended the resident academy in Warrenton and then graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1824 . He studied law , was admitted to the bar in 1830, and then began practicing in Warrenton. Bragg also had a political career. He was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from 1830 to 1834 . He then moved to Mobile, Alabama, in 1836, where he resumed his practice as a lawyer. Bragg was appointed 10th District Judge in 1842. He was also a member of the Alabama House of Representatives . Bragg was elected to the 32nd US Congress . In 1852 he decided against running for the 33rd US Congress . Bragg served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1851 to March 3, 1853. Then he went back to his activity as a lawyer. He also took part in 1861 as a delegate to the Constituent Assembly of Alabama in Mobile. Bragg died in Mobile in 1878 and was buried there in Magnolia Cemetery .
