The T 1 is a two-axle railcar for narrow-gauge railway systems of the Dessauer Waggonfabrik for the Gernrode-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (GHE).
history
The GHE procured this railcar to make the passenger traffic on the Selketalbahn more efficient. Its main area of use was the Alexisbad – Harzgerode and Alexisbad – Stiege routes. Although the vehicle proved itself and fulfilled the tasks, the railcar remained a one-off at GHE. A largely identical vehicle was delivered to the Weimar-Großrudestedter Railway (T 06) in 1934 ; it went to the USSR in 1946 as a reparation . By the likewise Orenstein & Koppel belonging Gotha Coach Factory built MEG T 1 to T 8 were in many parts identical with those railcars.
The GHE made efforts to order another railcar, but the money saved was ultimately invested in new buses.
During the Second World War , the procurement of diesel for the GHE became increasingly difficult, so that the railcar was finally stored in 1943 in the locomotive shed of the Eisfelder Talmühle station. When the Soviet military authorities demanded that the Selketalbahn be dismantled as a repair , the railcar, which had been parked for some time, was missing from the inventory list. It may also be thanks to this fact that, unlike the other rolling stock, it was not removed.
After the takeover by the Deutsche Reichsbahn , it was designated as VT 133 522 and took over the traffic on the remaining part of the Selketalbahn between Eisfelder Talmühle and Hasselfelde . Later it was used again on its regular route between Gernrode and Straßberg . With 34 seats and 10 standing places, however, it was simply too small and was converted into an equipment cart in 1963. The original engine was replaced by an EM 4-22 / 90 engine from the IFA S4000-1 , this probably also happened in 1963. In 1972 it received the vehicle number 187 001-3, which is still valid today, from the Deutsche Reichsbahn . The shutdown took place in 1978.
In the last years of the GDR , the T 1 was still on the list of rail vehicles to be preserved in the long term. In 1988 work began on rebuilding the railcar so that it could be used for special trips. In 2001 he received a new type 4 VD 14.5 / 12-1 SRW engine , as used in the W50 truck . The Harz Narrow Gauge Railways put the railcar back from the repair in 2007. It was not until 2010, after a two-year stay at the Meiningen steam locomotive works , that the T 1 returned to the deployment park with a different paintwork and interior design changed in color. In depot Wernigerode Westerntor then one was safety drive circuit built-in - since he can without Beimann be operated.
It is used by HSB exclusively for special traffic.
