GL 5040/5140

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GL 5040/5140 is a grenade launcher as an underflow attachment weapon for assault rifles , also known as an underflow grenade launcher .

The weapon was designed for the Stgw 90 or SIG 550/551 and can be mounted on these automatic firearms without tools. The GL 5040 model is intended for the SIG 550 and the GL 5140 for the SIG 551.

The grenade launcher fires all low-velocity grenades in the 40 mm NATO standard caliber from 100 to 198 mm in length in a single shot. For loading, the slide is pushed back so that the grenade can be pushed into the barrel. Then the slide is pulled back and locked, so that the grenade launcher is ready to fire. An attachable folding visor is available for the assault rifle. Since the muzzle velocity of hand-held grenade launchers is quite low, the grenade must be brought into the target in a ballistic trajectory.

According to the manufacturer, the accuracy is 150 mm to the side and 240 mm to the height at a distance of 100 m.
