Gnome Foundation

The Gnome Foundation is a nonprofit association whose mission is the goal of the Gnome -project - to create a desktop interface and development platform for the general public, completely free software is - to support.

To this end, the Gnome Foundation organizes the publication of new Gnome versions and decides which projects are part of Gnome. Furthermore, the association takes on the communication with the media and with organizations that are interested in Gnome.

The association consists of the members ( GNOME Membership ), the employees of the Gnome project. Each year the members elect a board of directors from their own ranks. The board consists of seven members and holds a weekly conference call to organize the day-to-day business of the Gnome Foundation and the Gnome project. In the last election (2012) were

Karen Sandler is the Foundation's Executive Director .

The Advisory Council ( Advisory Board ) consists of companies and organizations that will pay an annual fee or invited as non-profit organizations and has an advisory role. In addition to the board of directors, the advisory board had the following members in November 2012:
