GSHHG ( English Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Geography Database ; formerly English Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Shoreline Database ( GSHHS )) is a free geographic data set. It includes coastlines , rivers, bodies of water and borders in various resolutions. It is based on the World Vector Shorelines (WVS), the CIA World Data Bank II (WDBII) and the Atlas of the Cryosphere (AC).
