The GVV-Privat Versicherung AG (GVV-private) is a German insurance company based in Cologne . The share capital of GVV-Privat is 100% held by GVV-Kommunalversicherung VVaG in Cologne.
GVV-Privat has been insuring employees and voluntary mandate holders in cities and municipalities, districts, municipal companies and savings banks and their family members as well as active members of the volunteer fire service since 1989 . Since June 2015, GVV-Privat has been open to everyone and people outside of the municipal service can also take out insurance.

GVV-Privat is a direct insurer with no full-time sales force . Customer contact takes place by post, telephone and the Internet. In addition to the head office in Cologne, there is an office in Wiesbaden. Direct sales are supported by part-time supervisors in administrations and companies.
