Gabriel of Qatar

Gabriel of Qatar (early 7th century) was a theologian of the East Syrian "Church of the East" .

Gabriel bar Lipeh left behind an explanation of the worship of his church in Syrian (= East Syrian rite ), in the form in which it was before the liturgical reform of Catholicos Isho'yahb III. (Mid 7th century) was celebrated. The work is so far only from the Codex Brit. Libr. Or. 3336 (13th century) known. In five “Memre” Gabriel deals with the morning and evening offices of the daytime on weekdays and Sundays as well as the celebration of the Eucharist . The liturgy commentary as a whole has not yet been published. The text and translation of individual chapters are accessible:
