Gabriele Husar

Gabriele "Gabi" Husar (* 20th century ) is a former Austrian rally driver .

Life

Husar began her motorsport career with a Fiat 850 , then switched to the Lada 1300 in 1979 and finally to the Porsche 911 SC in 1982 . She joined Georg Fischer and Rudolf Stohl as a co-driver, and she also drove with Franz Wittmann before she herself drove a rally car as a driver. With Stohl she reached a 14th place in the Acropolis rally in 1981 . In 1980, Husar became a mother and paused until 1981.

To this day she is the only female pilot from Austria and Central Europe who has won a national championship run. In September 1986 she won the “Varta Rally” in Carinthia with the Porsche 911 SC . After the end of Group B , Husar also ended her career in motorsport in 1987. Only women were allowed to sit next to her in the passenger seat. Gabi Husar celebrated her comeback in 1998 at the OMV rally with a VW Golf TDI , which was terminated in the first special stage due to a rollover.

Gabi Husar lives in the Lower Austrian town of Berndorf .
