Gabriele Stangl

Gabriele Irmgard Stangl (born July 11, 1964 in Erbendorf ) is a German nutritionist and university lecturer.

Life

Gabriele Stangl studied, did her doctorate and habilitated from 1984 to 1998 at the Technical University of Munich . After holding a professorship for human nutrition at the University of Hamburg , she has been professor for human nutrition at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since 2004. She is a co-opted board member of the German Nutrition Society (DGE) .

She researches the effects of nutrients on metabolism. The focus is on the molecular effects of plant proteins, lipids and vitamin D deficiency. She also works on developing foods and nutritional strategies that are designed to promote health.

One of her main research interests is the question of what influence diet has on metabolism and the development of cardiovascular diseases in particular. She also examines the preventive effect of nutrients and works on the development of health-promoting foods.

Honors

On May 24, 2012 it was registered under the registration number. 7495 member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in the Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences section .

In 2013 Gabriele Stangl became a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences .
