The Gachsaran oil field is located in the southwestern part of Iran , near the village of Gachsaran in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad Province . It was discovered by the Iranian oil company Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC) in 1928 and is one of the most important in the country.
Oil production started in 1940. The depth of the boreholes reaches 1050 m.
