Gadara (Perea)
Gadara (also: Gadora ) was an ancient town in the countryside Perea . It is probably identical to today's es-Salṭ in Jordan .
According to Flavius Josephus ( Bellum Iudaicum 4, 413) it was the permanent capital of Perea. The city was shaped by Jews and was conquered by Vespasian during the Jewish War in AD 68.
