Gadderke is a piece of jewelry , which is a multi-part lattice jewelry in filigree work made of silver, thin tombac - or gold sheet. It is worn as costume jewelry on a necklace or as a brooch and occurs in the Dutch North Brabant , in the Münsterland in the Osnabrücker Land and in Schaumburg-Lippe . In the Emsland , this type of jewelry is called Hümmling jewelry or urchin jewelry , if a cross hangs on it, it is a Krüzbengel . On the Lower Rhine and in Limburg in the Netherlands, the corresponding gem is called Schuwe .

According to its origin, the Gadderke is a Frisian jewelry for married women. Wealthy citizens and farmers wore this gold jewelry in the 20th century. Today, jewelry is often worn in East Frisia without a cross pendant .
