The Gahbergkapelle is a small church on the summit of the steep Gahberg ( 864  m above sea level ) in the municipality of Weyregg am Attersee in the Vöcklabruck district in Upper Austria . She is consecrated to the Most Holy Trinity . As a chapel, it is subordinate to the Roman Catholic parish Weyregg am Attersee in the Schörfling deanery . The chapel is a listed building .

history

A chapel has stood on the summit of the Gahberg since the beginning of the 18th century. It was built out of a pledge to make a procession to the Gahberg every year after rain and hail had destroyed the harvest of the Weyregger for seven years in a row. The Weyregg parish organizes pilgrimages to the Gahberg three times a year: on the Friday after Ascension Day , on Trinity Sunday and on July 10th, the Weyregg parish day of pledge.

The first chapel, made of wood, burned down in 1951 due to a lightning strike . Reconstruction began in the same year. 1986 were Eternit shingles by larch shingles replaced.

Architecture and equipment

The small wooden altar in the chapel was originally the Sacred Heart Altar of the Weyregg parish church.

The Gahberg observatory, built by amateur astronomers, is located on the same elevation .
