Gaius Cluilius

According to Roman tradition, Gaius Cluilius was the last king of Alba Longa . He ruled in the 7th century BC. At the time of the Roman king Tullus Hostilius . His predecessor and the length of his reign are unknown.

After several border incidents, war broke out between Rome and Alba Longa. Gaius Cluilius invaded Roman territory with his troops and set up camp five miles from Rome, which he had surrounded with a ditch that was supposedly named after him as fossa Cluilia . But he died unexpectedly before the battle broke out. After his death, the Albanians elected Mettius Fufetius as their dictator.
