Gaius Rutilius Honoratus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaius Rutilius Honoratus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

A military diploma dated September 27, 154 proves that Honoratus 154 was in command of Ala I Praetoria , which at that time was stationed in the province of Pannonia Inferior .

In the diploma, the origin of Honoratus is indicated with the abbreviation HADR ; he came either from one of the cities called Hadrianopolis , from Hadrumetum in Africa proconsularis or from Hadria in Picenum .

Remarks

  1. According to Peter Weiß , Hadria is probably meant, since numerous members of the knighthood are documented from this region who performed the Tres militiae .
