The Galbusera V8 from 1938 was a motorcycle of Italian manufacturer Galbusera and the world's only motorcycle with two-stroke - eight-cylinder engine . The motorcycle was developed until it was ready for series production, but never came into production.

Development and technology

Plinio Galbusera, owner and designer of the Italian manufacturer Galbusera, was already manufacturing ready-made motorcycles in individual production in 1934. Galbusera got the engines from Rudge and Sturmey-Archer , as well as the gearboxes from Sturmey-Archer and Burman, which he built into his own frames. Marama Toyo, a friend of Egyptian origin, designed a V4 two-stroke engine for Galbusera that was installed across the frame. The supercharged engine had 62.3 cm³ per cylinder, a total of 249.2 cm³ displacement. Toyo later coupled two V4 engines so that the four-speed gearbox and clutch were between the engines. The crankshafts, on which the main and secondary connecting rods (for the opposite piston) were attached, rotated in opposite directions. Test drives were probably undertaken, serial production never took place. Two pre-production models, the 250 (V4) and the 500 (V8) were built.
