Rheinwerk Verlag GmbH ( own spelling ), Rheinwerk for short , is a German specialist publisher for books, e-books and video courses on IT , creative and marketing topics based in Bonn . Until January 2015 the publisher was called Galileo Press .

The publishing program is aimed at experts and ambitious beginners in the areas of programming, IT systems, online marketing, design, photography and SAP . According to the different fields of knowledge, Rheinwerk Verlag is divided into the program areas Rheinwerk Computing, Rheinwerk Design, Rheinwerk Photography and Rheinwerk Video. In cooperation with SAP SE, books are published under the SAP PRESS brand , which represent business and technical aspects of planning, programming and administration, the use and application of SAP technologies and software solutions.

history

The publishing house was founded in 1999 by former employees of the Addison-Wesley publishing house in Bonn . In 2005 the publisher expanded its media product range to include video training courses it produced itself. In 2006 the publishing house founded a subsidiary in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) (today: Rheinwerk Publishing Inc.) for the development and international distribution of an English-language publishing program on SAP topics. In 2009 the publisher was one of the first publishers in Germany to make its books electronically accessible in the form of online books. Since autumn 2010 the publisher has been publishing books under the name Vierfarben - Der neue Verlag für Computer und Fotografie , which are aimed specifically at beginners with popular topics. Since 2019 the publisher has also been offering conferences on specialist topics. The first Rheinwerk conference - on the subject of online marketing - took place on May 16, 2019 in Cologne.

Publishing program

Rheinwerk Verlag offers all books both as printed books and as e-books (in the formats PDF , EPUB , MOBI , online book). In January 2017, the publisher also added a bundle that includes books and e-books together. The publisher also makes some of its no longer available but still current publications available online as a so-called open book as a free HTML version.
