The Gambo Brook is a tributary of Freshwater Bay in the northeast of the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .
River course
The Gambo Brook forms the outflow of the 148 m high lake Gambo Pond . It flows from the northeast end of the elongated lake over a distance of 4.5 km north to the head end of Freshwater Bay . The Trans-Canada Highway ( Route 1 ) crosses the river 500 m north of Gambo Pond. About 1.3 km above the estuary, a disused railway line (T'Railway) crosses the Gambo Brook. Gambo South , a settlement that belongs to the municipality of Gambo further north, extends along the western bank of the river . The catchment area of the Gambo Brook covers around 1080 km².
