GamingXP was an Austrian multi-format computer game magazine published by MediaXP-Verlag in Vienna. The name GamingXP referred to both the internet portal gamingxp.com and the print magazine GamingXP, which appeared monthly from April 2008 to September 2015.

Both the print magazine and the website were available to readers free of charge. The print magazine was distributed with a circulation of 60,000 copies (as of 12/2008) as a magazine supplement in Austria and Germany and thus reached over 100,000 readers. According to its own information, the website had over a million page impressions (as of 09/2008).

Both the approximately 48-page magazine and the website were mainly dedicated to the presentation and evaluation of new games for PC and game consoles . The website www.gamingxp.com also offered an extensive news section and an interactive user community .

editorial staff

The editorial team was headed by Katharina Pernkopf-Konhäusner and consisted of ten permanent and around 20 freelance employees.

history

The website www.gamingxp.com was founded in January 2000 by publisher Peter Konhäusner under the name "TAGE-net - The Austrian Gaming Experience" and renamed GamingXP in 2002. Since the bankruptcy of MediaXP Verlag in September 2015, the website is no longer accessible.

Editorial offshoot

The GamingXP-Verlag also published the GamingXP offshoot "Mobile XP" with a circulation of 100,000 copies from autumn 2008. MobileXP presented the most important new games for mobile phones every quarter in a handy A5 format. Just like GamingXP, MobileXP was distributed free of charge as a magazine insert in Austria.
