Gandhi-Irwin Pact

The Gandhi-Irwin Pact is a political agreement that was concluded in 1931 between Mahatma Gandhi and the Viceroy of India .

On February 17, 1931, Gandhi met Lord Irwin , Viceroy of India. After 16 days of negotiations, which then took place in the viceroy's new palace , the Gandhi-Irwin Pact was announced on March 5, 1931. In addition to the release of all prisoners of the salt march in exchange for Gandhi's pledge to end civil disobedience , he promised to attend the second round table conference in London.
