The district of Gaolan ( Chinese 皋兰 县 , Pinyin Gāolán Xiàn ) is a district of the Chinese province of Gansu . It belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Lanzhou . Gaolan has an area of 2,556 km² and has a population of around 170,000 (2004). Its main town is Shidong (石洞 镇).
