description

The farm dates from the early 19th century. It was added to the older Gardie House as part of extensive renovations. Gardie House Steading has a U-shaped floor plan. A two-story tower rises up on the short side, flanked on both sides by flatter wings, creating an inner courtyard open to the northeast. The tower protrudes a little from the facade and is equipped with a rounded doorway to enable vehicles to enter the inner courtyard. Above is the maid's chamber, the window of which was partially walled up. The tower ends with a slate-covered pyramid roof with a weathercock. The two wings contain stables for chickens and cows. The north wing has four, the south five outer windows. The facades are plastered in the traditional way with Harl , while the building edges are partly set off with polished ashlar.
