Garden claw

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A garden claw is a garden tool that is used as a tool to loosen up the soil and remove weeds , as well as to mix in fertilizer and compost.

nature

It consists of a simple or crossed fork on a tool handle with the prongs rotated by about 30 degrees . There are counterclockwise and clockwise versions with no difference in function and in different material designs. A mini claw as a reduced form is also intended for working with planters , raised beds and flower boxes.

functionality

The garden claw is placed on the soil to be worked and then pierced by a rotary movement, then turned further and pulled out again. As a result of the rotation of the rotated tines around the shaft axis, it breaks up the soil material together with the vegetation. The application enables loosening of the top soil layer in the diameter of the tine spacing with little force. The garden claw can also be used to add fertilizer or other material such as compost to this layer. The use of the tool can be made easier by moistening the soil beforehand.
