A fork or fork is a tool with a handle and several long, mostly pointed appendages , the prongs , also known as prongs in Upper Germany.

For naming

The term fork developed from the mhd . fork (s) , ahd . gabala and is related to the Celtic word group around the old Irish gabul , which means forked branch.

Like most farm implements, the different designs of the forks in the various dialects and dialects have different names that overlap in their use.
