need

Roses need a lot of air at the roots so that root rot can not develop. Since roses react very sensitively when their roots are damaged, the soil cannot be loosened with a cultivator or something similar, so special rose forks are used.

To loosen up the soil, the rose fork is carefully pricked into the dry soil and then carefully moved back and forth. This is used to pierce channels in the ground through which air can get into the ground. If the soil is moist, there is a risk of damaging the roots.

procurement

There are rose forks in the relevant trade. You can also make them yourself by cutting off the outer prongs of a normal digging fork.
