Gary Gilbert

Gary Gilbert (* in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American film producer . It was in 2011 for the film The Kids Are All Right for the Oscar in the category Best Picture nomination.

Life

Gilbert attended Southfield-Lathrup High School in Michigan and then graduated from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. His brother Daniel founded the Rock Financial mortgage company in 1985 . Gilbert went into his brother's business; they sold the establishment in 1999 to the software company Intuit Inc. for US $ 532 million. Today it is known as Quicken Loans .

Gilbert then moved to New York to start a new career. He was passionate about making films and kept commuting to Los Angeles, where he now lives. In 2003 he became aware of Zach Braff , who was looking for a producer for his screenplay Garden State . Gilbert was ready to fund the project. In 2005 Gilbert received the Independent Spirit Award for the film . This was followed by works such as Pathology (2008), The Kids Are All Right (2010) and Margaret (2011). Together with Jordan Horowitz he founded the film production company Gilbert Films .

Gilbert and his brother are co-owners of the NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers .
