As gas capsules small are compressed gas containers of metal called, often for single use are used in the kitchen - for example for coffee machines or for making whipped cream (whipped cream), soups or foams. Other possible uses are in the repair of bicycle and motor vehicle tires and in inflatable life jackets . CO 2 gas capsules are also used in some compressed air weapons to propel the projectiles.

The capsules on the market are only a few centimeters in size and have a volume of around 10 to 100 milliliters. They are usually filled with carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) or nitrous oxide (N 2 O). Such gas capsules may be carried in aircraft in small numbers.

Specially manufactured capsules made of stainless steel withstand very high pressures and can therefore hold a gas mass of a few grams with a small volume . Such capsules made of deep-drawn steel can almost without loss of quality recycling are fed, so they in the scrap containers ( "blue ton") should be disposed of.
