Alley captain
In earlier centuries, a street captain was an urban district chief . He had to ensure peace and order in his district , especially in the case of fires that occurred more frequently in earlier times . Furthermore, it was one of his tasks to report citizens who resisted orders and criminals, especially arsonists . Arsonists were reported by the street captain directly to the then existing fire department of the respective city.
