The Gasthaus Horch is a historic restaurant building with a courtyard in Mainzer Strasse in Saarbrücken - St. Johann . The semi-detached house is one of Saarbrücken's oldest restaurants and is a listed building.

history

The corner building at Mainzer Straße 2 was built in 1792 for the brewer Friedrich Eichacker in the course of the second, planned city expansion outside the city wall ring in front of the Obertor. The architect was Balthasar Wilhelm Stengel . The semi-detached house with a gabled central projectile and mansard roof as well as an inner courtyard with a gate passage, barn building and a surrounding wooden gallery on the first floor have been preserved. On the opposite side of the street there is a similarly arranged semi-detached house, which now also houses restaurants.

The house was in operation as Gasthaus Horch until 1995, after which the Coyote Café moved in after a renovation (since August 2016 Iguana ).
