The Gasthaus Zur Post today

The Gasthaus Zur Post is a listed building and is located on Cologne-Aachener-Strasse No. 60 in the Quadrath-Ichendorf district , one of 15 districts of the district town of Bergheim in the Rhein-Erft district .

Building history and architecture

The Gasthaus zur Post was rebuilt in 1819. This is revealed by the anchor numbers in the side gable of the building. The building is now a two-story, plastered brick building with a yellow paint and a hipped roof . The street front has five window axes and a central gabled house. A wrought iron weather vane adorns the building. In 1901 the house was structurally changed and received plaster frames around the windows, a new roof and a so-called mid - house as a roof structure. To the left of the front door there is a piece of beam with the inscription "Anno 1736 Steffen Muller, Isabella Sieger".

Use then and now

Even today, the name of the house indicates that there used to be a post office in what is now the “Gasthaus Zur Post” . In 1816 Wilhelm Roleff ran the inn. The property remained in the possession of his family throughout the 19th century and passed from his son Christian Roleff to his son Wilhelm Roleff. After that, between the two world wars, it became the property of the Kristen family.

Today the "Gasthaus Zur Post" is run as a hotel and restaurant .
